Soft, cozy, undyed, and very warm scarf made from 100% yak wool.
My products are made in Mongolia. Since Mongolian yaks live in mountainous regions, they have to cope with extreme weather conditions ranging from 30°C to -50°C. Therefore, yak wool is heat-retaining, temperature-balancing, and breathable. These horned animals, weighing up to 500 kg, impress with their massive bodies and calm, social temperament. Approximately 300g of hair can be combed from one yak per year and processed into yak yarn. Furthermore, yak wool is a natural product that can be sustainably sourced and is 100% organic.
Traditional herding in Mongolia does not involve stable housing. The nomadic life is geared towards the herd animals and their well-being. After winter, the wool of the animals is combed out by individual herders and transported to weaving mills for further processing.
