My products are made in Mongolia. Since Mongolian yaks live in mountainous regions, they have to cope with extreme weather conditions between 30°C and -50°C. Therefore, yak wool is heat-retaining, temperature-regulating and breathable. These horned animals, weighing up to 500 kg, impress with their massive bodies and calm, social temperament. Approximately 300g of hair can be combed from a yak each year and processed into yak yarn. In addition, yak wool is a natural product that can be obtained in an environmentally friendly way and is 100% ecological.
Traditional herd farming in Mongolia does not require stabling. The nomadic life is geared towards the herd animals and their well-being. After winter, the animals' wool is combed out by individual herders and transported to weaving mills for further processing.
