My products are made in Mongolia. As Mongolian yaks live in mountainous regions, they have to cope with extreme weather conditions between 30°C and -50°C. Therefore, yak wool is heat-retaining, temperature-regulating, and breathable. These horned animals, weighing up to 500 kg, impress with their massive bodies and calm, social disposition. Approximately 300g of hair can be combed from one yak per year and processed into yak yarn. Furthermore, yak wool is a natural product that can be sustainably harvested and is 100% ecological.
Traditional herding in Mongolia does not involve stable housing. The nomadic life is geared towards the welfare of the herd animals. After winter, the animals' wool is combed out by individual herders and transported to weaving mills for further processing.
